| Bought this XA Fairmont GS 351 hardtop in Darwin in 1985 for $1,900. I later found out that it was missing its original 351 2V engine and LSD. The front bumper had been removed and it had been fitted with a black steel bull bar. The 4 speed manual had been replaced with a T-bar auto. I later fitted a GT grille and driving lights plus a lockable GT fuel cap. The car underwent a rotisserie restoration in Bundaberg in 1998 and was painted Brambles Red and fitted with a GT bonnet and front guards. The car was sold to my younger brother in 2017 as a rolling shell along with a multitude of parts. My brother still has the car and is slowly getting it rebuilt. |
